Sean Donnelly grew up in Santa Cruz, California, but has lived in Brooklyn since graduating from NYU's Film and Television program. Sean often blends various techniques of animation with live action filmmaking.

His thesis film, "The Couch", which won a screenwriting award, acting ensemble award and was a Wasserman Semi-Finalist at the NYU First Run Film Festival and went on to play at SXSW.

Since then, Sean has directed many music videos and commercials for clients such as Scion, VH1, MSN, AOL, The Mountain Goats, Tally Hall, Galactic, Angela McClusky, Ben Jelen, We The Kings and many more. His video for The Spinto band earned him and co-director Jon Watts a nomination for best International video at the 2008 MVPA Awards. Creativity magazine recently named him one of their director's to watch.

Sean's feature documentary film, I Think We're Alone Now, is an intimate portrait of two obsessed Tiffany fans. The film has played at festivals around the world, including IDFA, Melbourne, Slamdance, Raindance and Fantasia, where it won the award for best documentary. The film has been featured on NPR, Rolling Stone, Variety, Esquire, Vice, Entertainment Weekly and many more. It is available on DVD around the world,

A few years ago, Sean started an animation company called Awesome and Modest. Through his company, Sean has overseen all of the animation for U2's From The Sky Down, which was the first doc to ever open the Toronto Film Festival, Davis Guggenheim's Waiting For Superman, which won the audience award at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, Last Play at Shea by Sony Pictures Classics and HBO's Resolved, which was nominated for 2 Emmy's.

Sean is currently working on developing a few TV projects, and is currently working with FOX and Comedy Central on some new ideas. One day soon he would like to write and direct a feature.
